Our company specialises in hydraulic impact assessments (HIA), providing comprehensive solutions for assessing the potential impact of hydraulic structures on private property, public infrastructure and other stakeholders. We use advanced hydraulic modeling and simulation tools to assess the potential impact of hydraulic structures such as dams, bridges, culverts, and weirs, on water flow behavior, sediment transport, erosion and scour, and flood risk. Our experts have extensive experience in conducting hydraulic impact assessments for a wide range of projects, including infrastructure development, floodplain management, and water resources planning on behalf of both private and the public sector.
Software we frequently use for HIAs:
We provide consequence category and failure impact assessments in accordance with industry guidelines and standards utilising HEC-RAS and TUFLOW.
Through extensive R&D and with several papers to be published in late 2023/24, we have developed internal tools that allow for probabilistic dam break modelling for simulations between 10,000 to 10,000,000 runs. This allows for not just traditional statistical analysis (like Monte-Carlo) but input into machine learning algorithms or benchmarking to traditional methods (ie Froehlich 2018 or historical breach records).
With the use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) we provide comprehensive spillway and outflow rating assessments for dams, weirs and basins.
We provide bridge scour protection and scour depth assessments in accordance with industry best practices.
In 2021 our Technical Director (Kyle) presented to an audience in the thousands, with the support of Aus Water School, on Australian best practices, assumptions and limitations. The webinar is available on YouTube: https://youtu.be/2veleecd3Hg
